Reynolds is a frank and interesting speaker who goes into a lot of detail about his approach to filmmaking. This is one of the few commentaries I've heard that gives a tangible sense of what being a director is like. He talks a lot about the challenges of location shooting, filming out of continuity, and setting up a well-paced and balanced story. He also describes how he got the best performances out of his actors, and praises them a great deal, especially Jim Caviezel and Dagmara Dominczyk.

I hate tracks where the director just points out mistakes, inconsistencies, and camera tricks. It destroys my ability to view the film again without constantly noticing those details. Although Reynolds is very informative, he focuses on all the wrong information.
