Thoroughly average commentary track for Disney's less-than-stellar animated adventure. Animation fans will probably find this keeps pace with most contemporary Disney commentaries in terms of technical and artistic revelations ("this is 3-D, that is 2-D"), requiring jumpaways to supplemental material to further elaborate on certain comments (like the obvious visual cues sourced from the Brandywine School of Illustration), which depending on your perspective, either allows the commentators to be lazy, or nicely complements a so-so track. This "visual commentary" track is actually a clever invention that often DOES, by its nature, afford more interest to otherwise so-so tracks (the superb track for DIE ANOTHER DAY comes to mind for it's clever use of a similar feature, although that one keeps the film playing simultaneous to the extra features, leaving the run time the same). Eventually, though, the participants turn to pointing out rather obvious thematic elements ("the one person who unlocks his potential is the most unlikely person of all." Sigh) but at least close with the most logical advice of all: "Read the book."
