What a track! What. A. Track! This is the second commentary I've heard involving Carpenter and him and Roddy Piper are a BLAST! Just the first 5 minutes already does what most commentaries strive to do in an hour - which is provide an engaging listening experience. Now imagine that for an entire hour and a half! It is now easy for me to imagine just why there is so much praise for Carpenter tracks. The two haven't seen each other in 13 years (This one was recorded in late 2001) and there is so much information these two divulge about the film. The two just have a wonderful rapport with each other. At one point I caught myself thinking "Man this is the best thing EVER!" It's pointless for me to start listing the topics they go over, my excitement in this review should be enough of a selling point to check it out - but if you just NEED something; Carpenter and Piper at one point just start talking about aging, lol. Piper had a lot to say about where he was coming from, and it really comes through the commentary. It was an emotional time for him and when he starred in the film he channeled a lot of his feelings and pain through the character of the film. Sometimes they get off screen specific scenes - but in no way what they discuss is ever boring. They do a great job together talking about all the major scenes of the film and have fun doing so. Do not miss it. I am going to be listening to this AGAIN.

John Carpenter is the master of commentaries. Carpenter & Russell are the best team, but Carpenter & Piper are coming close. Roddy Piper and Carpenter talk about how they met, their working relationship, the other actors, the locations, the style of the movie, the script, wrestling, getting older, the masks of the aliens and the relevance of the movie today.
There are no gaps and they have a good time together. They have a lot of respect for each other. The track is very entertaining. Don‘t miss it. 9 out of 10
