For starters, there is some overlap between this and the second commentary. It’s not too bad and doesn’t take away much from the enjoyment of the commentaries, but it’s still there. These two guys are a bit more technical, talking about how the project got off, dating back to the mid-1980s (which I’ve already heard on the Gordon/Yuzna conversation from the ‘Re-Animator: Millennium Edition’ DVD). They go on about the script and the shooting and the locations. (The place where they shot seems to have very good wine.) They keep it rather interesting, but it’s quite an average commentary.

This is my favorite of the two. Ezra (who is actually British) is slightly livelier than Stuart, but both seem very much to be enjoying their session. They stick to acting and stories from the set. They have some funny stories and some interesting tidbits to say, which as a film aficionado I found very interesting. For example, one of Ezra’s idols is Harold Lloyd, which is why Ezra decided that his character should wear glasses. Quite frankly, he reminded me much more of Jeffrey Combs (of ‘Re-Animator’ fame) than Harold Lloyd.
