Devlin dominates the track, while Elkayem who probably has the best comments, speaks the least. Arquette and Overton crack a lot of jokes but do calm down as the track progresses, even offering some thoughts on acting against props but often nothing but markers as digital effects were added later. Most of the discussion centers on what was practical vs digital, which was the vast majority. Only 3 non-CGI spiders were used in the early going. The webs were made by blowing hot glue.

Elkayem notes how his short film (included on the disc) got the attention of Devlin and Roland Emmerich, which led to the collaboration. An earlier title was Arach Attack, which would have been too politically on the nose at the time, even though this film preceded Operation Iraqi Freedom by a year. The final title, Eight Legged Freaks, came from an Arquette improv line.

Much of the performances by Overton and Doug E. Doug were improvised lines.

The score by John Ottman was key to maintaining the playful tone.
