This is a great commentary. Three stars and a major director subtley compete with each other. A funny and informative track

One of the best tracks I've heard. Such a great rapport between these stars.

A little too much of a love-in between the cast, but worth checking out

I would agree with the previous reviewers. Some times it does a get a little self-congratulatory but this is still a very funny, entertaining commentary. Some highlights include Crowe, Cruise and Gooding trying to get Zellweger to affect her Bridget Jones accent; Crowe pointing out a shot in the film that he ripped off of My So Called Life and a hilarious anecdote about Billy Wilder's reaction to the film. Clearly, everyone had a fun time making this film and it shows in the chemistry they have together on this track.

Sounds like these guys have a lot of fun seeing this movie together. They laugh constantly from funny lines in the movie to the sex scenes and the stupid looks of the characters. It’s very fun to listen to, but sometimes I got the feeling the commentary was meant for them and not for us. But it is a great listen, and makes you like the movie even more, and you can forgive some of the sentimentality. 8/10

it suffers from the commentators enjoying themselves and the movie a bit too much so I have to agree with the previous comment, it seems like the commentary was for them, not us. there's interesting stuff in it, I liked their comments on albert l. brooks involvement.
...it also suffers from Renee Zellwegger. she's incredibly annoying. surprisingly, I was interested to hear what Tom Cruise had to say but a couple times he tried to talk about the film in earnest Rennee Zellwegger would start laughing like an idiot and acting all awkward. this should have been Tom Cruise and Cameron Crowe alone, that would have been spectacular.

This is a fun commentary! The cast and director clearly loved working with each other and hanging out doing this commentary. There is a lot of laughter and joking around. Mostly, they react to what happens on screen rather than provide insightful stories or memories about the production. There are nuggets of interesting commentary, mostly by Crowe and Cruise. Renee is nudged to tell a story a couple times, but declines to do so. Despite this it is a very entertaining time and anyone who enjoys this movie will have a good time listening.
NOTE: the date indicates this Special Edition DVD was printed in late 1996, but there are references to Almost Famous and Bridget Jones' Diary, which means this commentary was recorded after the year 2000.
