I cannot tell you if this commentary track was good or not because I do not know! I did not have a multi-speaker setup, so what I got was one out of two people discussing the film. Luckily, the only one that got through was the director but it is annoying hearing only questions, or only answers, or only retorts. Skip this track!

Jan de Bont has a notorious history with the making of this film. He was so abusive to the crew that the entire crew quit on him in the middle of the production. Alas, not a peep of this is mentioned by the director. Instead, he finds his scenes very self-aggrandizing, marveling at how great a job everyone did. My biggest problem with the commentary was my interest in the difficulty of the effects shots, and how they were accomplished. Instead, as a tornado scene begins, De Bont declares "This is an effects shot". Well no duh. No specific details about marrying the live action and the CGI. No great insight to be had.
