This is seriously misleading. Paul Newman does appear ( recorded separately from Lumet ) on the commentary track - but only for a grand total of TWO MINUTES !!
My outrage at this somewhat overshadows the fact that what remains is a solid (though not outstanding) track by Lumet. The director's book, MAKING MOVIES, is an excellent read and it led me to expect a little more from him - but this is still an above average listen.

So - seven points for the Lumet commentary. For Newman - minus four.

Sidney Lumet is great to listen to. He has an authority and dignity about him that is very pleasant to listen to. And a full track from him would probably be fantastic, but this is not that. When he speaks it is great, but he is silent for long patches of time. And just a two minute inclusion of Paul Newman is just a rip off. Good, but too little. 6/10

paul newman is NOT on this commentary. but lumet's commentary is very good despite there being some silences and all but it's worth it from beginning to end.
