Director Schultz tries to play baby-sitter as Lipnicki and Bow Wow talk over each other. It's not as annoying as it sounds. Lipnicki comes across as a professional kid actor while Bow preens and irritates everyone in the room. This lil' Bow is a putz with ADHD. So, have patience, because he ups and leaves the commentary a lil' more than halfway through.
I recommended this for fans of basketball, as there are many stars who appear on screen. It's also a pleasant surprise to see the Great Western Forum and the NBA on NBC.
Schultz dishes on the many obstacles that came with shooting during the 2002 NBA season. There are even some fun recollections about Crispin Glover and a homage to 'Rumblefish.'
So, Bow wowser notwithstanding, this is a decent listen for the casual fan. A must for fans of the NBA and Morris Chestnut. 5/10

Bah! Who thought a commentary by kids would be a good idea. Bow goes away after a while and Jonathon just describes everything that happens on screen. John sounds like he's not bothered.
Why couldn't John do the commentary on his own or even with the writers.
I remember on the DVD, one of the writers said that this is the first film he wrote and he was never went to film school. Maybe if he was on this track, he would explain his inspirations and influences.
But no. The makers of this DVD thought two kids doing commentary would be more interesting. Sigh.

I think both Bow Wow and Jonathan Lipnicki along with the director John Schulz did an awesome job! DVD commentary is always entertaining cuz all the actors and directors joke around with each other! It's also interesting how both of the kids are older than me cuz they were born in 1987 and 1990 and I was born in 1997! I was 5 years old when they recorded the commentary! When Jonathan said "Lakers are gonna 4 peat" I was like "hahahahaha nope you guys aren't gonna win another championship until 2009". My favorite part of the movie was Tom Tolbert who's a radio host I listen to in the Bay Area talking about Calvin Cambridge on the "NBA on NBC" segment. Also since I'm a huge Golden State Warrior fan I loved seeing J-Rich in the slam dunk contest! It also blew my mind that in the commentary they said that the scenes at the end with Morris Chestnut at the orphanage were filmed before all the other scenes with him! Loved the movie and the commentary! GO WARRIORS!!!!!
