Actress Felissa Rose obviously has fond memories of her time making the film. The director also chimes in with frequency to provide chuckles and insights. Although no credit for holding secrets behind some of the gruesome deaths done on a shoestring budget. I expected much more info and questions from the "moderator" in this commentary. If I started a website out of my love for a movie and was allowed on the commentary, I'd try to bring more to the table. 6/10

I came away from this commentary with a bad taste in my mouth. The director comes off as an asshole, who seemingly has to be prodded to even react to what's seen, let alone divulge anything. He seems almost reluctant to contribute to the commentary. The moderator is utterly useless, and seems intent to just watch the movie and say nothing despite the potential contribution he could make as host of an excellent site on the movie. Felicia Rose on the other hand is good and contributes positively to this commentary through her memories. She's really the only saving grace of this track.

As a post-script to the cult re-emergence of "Sleepaway Camp,"(1983) Scream Factory graced the film with a superb Blu-ray in 2014. Included were 2 additional commentaries: 1) one pairing star Felissa Rose with her compatriot Jonathan Tiersten, moderated by Justin Beahm (of the Halloween 4 & 5 Commentaries), and 2) Once again, Director Robert Hiltzik and Moderator Jeff Hayes.
The former track is pleasant, with the co-stars providing anecdotes from the now 30 year old shoot, and delivering a clear affection for each other and the film. Delightful, if at times, diverting and tangential. Just fine. (7/10)
For those who thought the latter commentary would correct some of the lapses with the original commentary recorded way back in 1999, well, don't pack your bags, "camp's closed."
The same evasive, coy, put-upon nonsense is back, with the moderator working overtime to get any semblance of anecdote or genuine production info from a filmmaker who sole contribution is a "Friday the 13th" rip-off with one memorable twist ending he's been milking for 3 decades. A tiresome schtick. I'd say just watch the always terrific "Making of," and only listen to the above "Actors" commentary. As for the Newly created "Directors" Commentary, I'll Just respond to a typical Robert Hiltzik retort: "I would tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.." (said wryly). Me: "Actually, Bob, do me a solid, and just kill me." (2/10)
