Director Rob Reiner gives some insights into adapting the novella, working with the boys and planning the shots. Also we learn, which kid-talk came from his own youth in the 50s... But the commentary is quite sparse, and there are parts, where he just watches the scenes. Most of the information we get here, was already mentioned in the Making of. So it lacks the interesting detail or inside into his method of working that makes a commetary track special.

Not indexed on this site but the newer bluray has an exceptional picture in picture commentary with Corey Feldman, Rob Reiner and Wil Wheaton. Some really great and honest stories, such as when the talk about River Phoenix. Can't understand why Reiner is so much more engaging here than he is on his solo track. Maybe he needs other people to bounce off?
