very poor commentary. would have been better edited together with the other track. reiner only talks for about half the film frequently pausing for long stretches.when he does talk he has some interesting things to say but that's still not enough to get excited about. 3/10

I thought this was reasonable given that he hadn't seen it for 10 years, but thought they could have made more effort for such a classic film

He does actually have quite a bit to say in the first 30 minutes. I thought "Maybe this commentary won't be so bad after all." Wrong!

After that, he just watches the film. If he and other members of the crew joined him, maybe this track would've worked. Sigh.

he gives the impression that he's never read the book in the first place and has absolutely nothing to say of interest of relevance, as he usually does. best thing to do is just let his otherwise wonderful films do the talking
Commentary 2: Screenwriter William Goldman Rating:5.0/10 (5 votes) [graph]Login to vote or review

This commentary starts very slow, but picks up pace after things get going in the movie. Goldman hasn't seen the movie in years and it shows. He sometimes just watches the movie and doesn't comment on anything. But when he does comment it's usually very interesting. So it's a hard thing to rate. But it's not something I think I'll listen to again.

I thought this was really bad, at times he admits he can't remember it and often he gets it wrong. He gets confused between SK and his own work
no preparation at all prior to watching the film

Yeah, this sucks. I don't know which commentary is worse. Maybe if Stephen King joined him, this track would've worked. King would've talked about his influences and opinions on the movie and differences from the book and film.

If only.

This was actually slightly better than Reiner's commentary. Goldman has very interesting things to say but he doesn't say much, it could have very well been edited with Reiner's so we didn't have to watch the movie three times but again, he does have some interesting things to say.
