Muller is scene-specific and comments on film noir motifs, casting, on-set incidents, characters, locations/sets, script, and director. He points out that the film is the first to be totally directed by Mankiewicz and that, as he was still learning how to use the camera, that there are weaknesses. However since this genre wasn't one that you would associate with this dialogue-centered director, Muller also highlights the humor that was inserted. This commentary is not one of his best. There are pauses and he even repeats himself.
