Think Ron Howard's commentary is one of the most insightful I've ever heard. He's method of explaining why certain scenes were deleted is fantastic. Hope he's done commentary for other films of his, as he's a greta director, too.

As per Ron Howard's usual commentary style, this one's tone is accessible but also dumbed-down and self-satisfied. Relatively interesting for fans of the movie because of some trivia information but otherwise not very insightful.

Strangely unsatisfying. Ron Howard likes the film, likes talking about making the film, but his comments throughout are seldom that interesting. A few interesting bits can be found in the IMDB trivia.
Commentary 2: Author/co-screenwriter Cliff Hollingsworth Rating:6.5/10 (2 votes) [graph]Login to vote or review

Average, but the best one here. Hollingsworth gives a lot of information on the subject matter - he was the original screenwriter before Akiva Goldsman was brought in to share the credits with him, it seems basically for polishing his script.

I am not sure if I have ever previously found the 3rd commentary track to be the most interesting on any disc, but here you go. He spends about 1/3 of the time saying "That wasnt in my script." and "That word was changed.", and the other 2/3 talking about the real life versions of the story, and rumors and side notes that did not make it into the film. These are actually very interesting most of the time, but I have to fault his commentary for being filled with so much silence.
Commentary 3: Co-screenwriter Akiva Goldsman Rating:2.0/10 (1 vote) [graph]Login to vote or review

Snore-fest commentary...Akiva Goldsman narrates a lot ("Here's the Universal logo"..."Here's the Miramax logo"..."and here's the Imagine logo") and the gaps of silence are HUGE - to the point that he stops talking for the last 40 (!) minutes or so of the movie; I even forgot I was listening to a commentary. There's only marginal screenwriting talk regarding structure and it's by no means worth wasting one's time.
