About as much insight as anyone could hope to get from the director of this movie. There are a lot of insights into the writing, the character development, and the motivations in this movie. It's a really good listen. Manghella is like a work horse, talking non-stop in a very fluid and friendly manner. Highly recommended.

One of the best commentaries I've heard, Minghella is(was)one of the most eloquent director's I've listened to and he pretty much talks non-stop from beginning to end. Great track for a classic flick.

I agree with all the previous comments. One of the many felicitous things I can say about Minghella's commentaries is that they are as fluid as his films. Whilst keeping you company it is not a ramble of idiosyncratic facts thrown at you but a fluid combination of the adaptation of the book, his film philosophies and a scene to scene insight with the actors and the setting. Ripley is so visual its practically a second film with Minghella along at your side.

Almost impossible to follow for how much information and commentary is provided. Best possible audio commentary track that a movie can hope for.
