Wow, really perfect. I love the sound and seriousness of the director’s voice. He comes very prepared and never says anything uninteresting. He covers all aspects of the movie, the casting, talking to Johnny Cash and June when they were alive, how every scene is filmed where the real events actually happened etc. You really get the feeling like this is a professional, someone who has passion, and someone who is willing to share it. Outstanding! 10/10

This commentary is fantastic. The focus is the transformation of June’s and John’s life into a movie script. The selection of the scenes from June’s and John’s life is widely discussed. You learn something about screenwriting. Mangold interviewed June and John a few times for the movie. You get a lot of additional information about their biography.

The look of the movie is also a big point. The technical part of the shooting is not a big topic, but that’s okay with me (this is often boring in commentaries).

This is a commentary without any gaps. Mangold has always something interesting to say. The movie was a true labour of love for him.
