There are long pauses, the actors tend to over-intellectualise their character analysis and performance methodology, and there is little scene-specific comments. Bening in particular is odd referring to herself in the third person. However there is also some character backstory that helps us understand the narrative.
Commentary 2:
Writer/director Phyllis Nagy

Nagy's commentary is better than that of the actors although her measured style of speaking takes some getting used to. There are some pauses and she does scene-specific comments as well as comments on locations, lighting, camerawork, costume, hair and makeup, performance, characters and the script. She also points out three scenes where she has second thoughts about the choices that were made. The one thing she doesn't really go into in depth is the brilliant performances of her two leads.
