It's kind of fun to listen to a filmmaker talk about his big early film hit, especially if the films later in his career weren't so successful. In this case, Badham takes pride in how this film pre-dated "Skynet" from Terminator, or how no digital effects were used. It is humourous to hear him explain to the modern audience the archaic world of phone modems, etc. Fun commentary, recommended.

this is a great example of a movie that just holds its own ground with any sort of commentary or explanation. it's such an intricate story but so well written and so rich with details that the commentary doesn't necessarily enhance the viewing experience. HOWEVER, this is a fantastic commentary, like someone mentioned before (whose review has disappeared in the past few months) this is like a screenwriting masterclass: the writers go into great detail about the research process it required and how the story was virtually there written just with the existing facts, but they added these wonderful 'larger than life' characters that brought the story alive. it's very interesting to hear them talk about structure and how you are being fed a very intricate story and being given tons of details without even knowing it. it was wonderful. highly recomended.
