Taylor Hackford is one of those directors that probably drags the best performances out of his actors, whether they like it or not. I love commentaries like this. Hackford is the definiton of "Straight Shooter." He tells the story of a movie that seemed destined for greatness, yet was anything but a sure thing at the time. There is no dead air in this talk. Hackford is scene specific, and dishes on behind-the-scenes arguments as well. Officer is a great example of a unique director who never comprises amidst the controversy of studio heads, difficult stars, and even the U.S. Military. Want to know how his vision became this classic? Have a listen..
