This DVD had been stuck on my shelf for years until i decided to see if the commentary was any good. And it is....David O Russell talks on various subjects and doesnt just give a scene by scene commentary or sign the pirases of everyone for 2hrs (like so many other commentaries by others these days)
David gives us back story on the film, stories of dealings with Warner Brothers. and this is pretty much one of the very decent commentaries that exist. . . Its highly recommended.

Excellent commentary from O. Russell. He chronicles what brought him to the project, his intentions to upend the action and war film genres, the casting of the principals and minor actors, working with Clooney to differentiate this role from that of E.R., anecdotes from the set, the production design by Catherine Hardwicke, his risky choices for lenses and film stocks, shooting in Arizona for Iraq, and the politics and sentiments of the era. He shares his experiences from a screening at the White House with then-President Clinton. If I had any quibbles with this track, it is that O. Russell delves into character motivations and plot description a bit during the slower scenes, but given that he worked from a script that he wrote, this is only natural.
Commentary 2:
Producers Chuck Roven and Ed McDonnell

just barely OK commentary. Nothing terribly exciting, but at least no long pauses. The 2 producers posses no real insight in the movie, but they do share their views on the war in an honest way. David O. Russell's commentary is much more interesting.
