John Patrick Shanley is always an engaging speaker. Smart, funny and often larger than life. Here Shanley watches the film and fills in personal anecdotes from his own childhood, motives for writing the script and some perfect Shanley-isms ("Kids were younger back then") If you are looking for grains of sand on the "did he/ didn't he?" front you're not gonna get any further here without making speculation. Enjoyable time with an interesting character and insights on a great film.

excellent commentary. Shanley is delightful to listen to. it's a semi biographical account wich permits you a greater understanding of the film past its subject matter of the accusations towards father Flynn. it's a bautifully crafted film and life in the 60s Bronx.
