Stephen Soderbergh and Sasha Grey take apart this absorbing character study about a high-class escort named Chelsea. Soderbergh explains to Grey that he prefers doing commentaries with other people because of the dynamic that happens with two people. Hearing from Ms. Grey, a porn star, about how she enjoyed playing in an indie movie with a very mainstream director, and about her "process" is fascinating. Well worth a rental or a purchase!

I'm very picky about what commentaries I listen to nowdays. In the early days of DVD I listened to the commentaries on every film I watched. Now it's too hard, there's just too much product. TV shows have commentaries on every episode and some films have multiple commentaries (although frankly that bad habit thankfully is dying out - it never really worked except on David Fincher films). Steven Soderbergh is another person who I can listen to endlessly - even on other peoples films he's almost more interesting (such as The Third Man) as he's one of these intellectual geeks.
This is a wonderful track. Sascha Grey is a surprisingly warm, smart and geeky foil for Soderbergh and while I would have liked more nuts and bolts to this track it is undeniably fascinating in its conversations. 8/10
