After five minutes of this commentary I was totally sold and thinking "this is going to be the best King track I've heard yet". Well, a lot of what he says is entertaining and interesting, if not downright funny, but it's certainly not enough to fill four hours or so. The two participants (director Baxley would go on to do another King miniseries, ROSE RED) are recorded separately in big 'chunks', maybe of about 30 minutes. As STORM OF THE CENTURY has little variation visually and thematically throughout its running time (it's just the same beat being hammered out again and again), there's not much that can be said to pad out the commentary, resulting in long, long spaces where nothing is said. Forget all of Baxley's run-of-the-mill stuff inbetween, and check out the first and last sections recorded by King.
