If your are fan of this ham-fisted and overwrought melodrama, then this commentary is for you. If not, but consider yourself a masochist, then it's still for you. Now, there are commentary tracks that come off as gladhanding, back-patting circle (soda)jerks. But "John Q"s track is 2 hours of the Director, producers, writer, and Kimberly Elise (actress who plays Denzel's wife) proclaiming the "boldness" of this film. What "Strength, conviction, and courage" was demonstrated by everybody! No, not just Anne Heche, but the Canadian bit players as well. These filmmakers are not apologizing for "John Q." The fact that you, the audience, wanted this film to make some important statement on the Health Care crisis, and not a cloying "masterpiece; well, these people think you're a moron. Come for the smug, self-satisfaction, stay for the total obliviousness to films better than this (Dog Day Afternoon). 2/10
