Ah, group commentaries. Love them or hate them, they are out there. Fortunately, "Coyote Ugly" is one of the good examples. Piper Perabo, Maria Bello, Tyra Banks, Izabella Miko and Bridget Moynahan are recorded together and just like in the movie Bello basically leads the pack. They all have a great chemistry and no one tries to be the star of the commentary. There's a nice balance of stories. They pretty much go scene by scene and offer some very interesting behind-the-scenes details that would definitely satisfy - and maybe surprise - the fans of the movie.

Perabo talks about the similarities between her real life and the adventures of her character, Miko addresses the problems regarding her age during the making of the movie (mainly the dance sequences) and Bello starts the whole thing by thanking Bruckheimer for his female-driven movies.

Speaking of Bruckheimer, just like in most of his other commentaries he's not really the predominant force. On this one he pops from time to time and talks a little bit about the production as a whole, but for a Bruckheimer fan like me his time on the commentary track is definitely not enough. David McNally, though informative, is also overshadowed by the five actresses.

Overall, a pretty entertaining commentary with a delightful group of people.

This one is good. I really dig commentaries in which people talk to each other, laugh and actually watch the movie, as opposed to peeps who are edited together. All the women here provide cool bits of information and they're never boring. It's a very relaxed, chill commentary that reveals some pretty neat stuff about the making of this great flick. Bruckheimer is very matter-of-fact, which is not a bad a thing as he is clearly passionate about these types of movies as well. I mean, he's not just Mister Big Blockbuster : ) Sadly, and as it happens with most of the commentaries with him, Bruckheimer's time on the track is, as already mentioned on this page, very limited. As for the director of COYOTE UGLY, he gives us some info about the making of the movie, but overall his presence on the commentary is not that memorable. The real heroes here are definitely the women. If you love the movie and you want more from the Coyotes, don't think twice and just go directly to the commentary : )

You'll thank me later.
