Maybe not THE worst commentary I've ever heard but very close to the bottom. I'd heard a Farrelly brothers commentary for another movie where they kept describing every person who appeared in every scene (extras, walk-ons, etc) and thought it was sort of an anarchic joke - an "anti-commentary" if you will. Nope. That's just the way they do it, as the same thing happened on this SHALLOW HAL disc too. I've since learned not to listen to any more Farrelly commentaries. There are a few comments about the film here and there but not worth mining for unless you really want to know that the guy sitting at the bar was the neighbour of their cousin's dentist.

This commentary is entertaining and to some extent informative. They do tend to talk about inconsequential and peripheral stuff quite a lot but they are at least engaging and interesting. I don't think you'd be listening to the commentary of 'Shallow Hal' for the art of filmmaking so that's not what this commentary is about. It's much more about the actors with a little on the writing and very little technical. There are some very funny bits that I enjoyed.
