Guided by CHAINSAW fan and documentary maker David Gregory (THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE SHOCKING TRUTH), Tobe Hooper reminisces fondly about this follow-up to his seminal classic original shocker.
Although, just as he admits to being reluctant to direct the film so he seems equally reluctant to discuss it, regularly falling silent until prodded by Gregory into continuing.
A fan as well as a fellow film-maker, Gregory asks intelligent questions - though strangely he fails to ask about the deleted scenes (available elsewhere on the disc) and why they were cut - encouraging Hooper to talk about (nearly) all aspects of the production, including coaxing out little gems of information such as the fact that it costs (or at least it did at the time)less to buy a real human skeleton than a plastic one!

Great commentary, although there is some silent parts in it.

Tobe talks about how they wanted this film to be gorier than the last one and that horror movies in the 80's were all about gore and he wanted to join the crowd.

He said that he wanted Bill Moseley to be in the film after he saw him in a short spoof movie called The Texas Chainsaw Manicure.

He met Dennis Hopper in a restaurant once and asked does he want to work with him in a movie. Hopper said yes and Tobe cast him as Lefty.

Contrary to belief, this movie did not fail at the box office. Tobe said it did okay but it was just wasn't successful as the first film.

They also point out references to the first film and that the corpse that Chop Top carries around is the hitchhiker.

Tobe also says that the reason why Chop Top picks underneath the plat in his head was so that he could touch his brain and get off on it.

Another personal favourite commentary track for sheer enthusiasm towards a terrible film. There's so much insight into the film and stories about the making of it, it made me appreciate the film just a little more, though it's still a very gory attempt at social satire. Highlight is them laughing at Jim Siedow 'driving' the meat truck. Hilarious.

It's really just them praising everyone and everything. "Oh I love this scene." "Oh this scene is great." "Oh, I love how he does this." "Oh he was so great to work with." They recite lines and laugh at every gag. I find these types of commentaries very pointless.
