The pilot pairs Mike Judge with Actor Tom Middleditch. As a "UCB" alum, Tom is a game participant and keeps up with Judge just fine. They helpfully point out the differences between the set and the real exterior of the "Pied Piper" house, explain which bits were improvised, and allude to the real life counterparts to "Hooli" and a certain cable exec who utilized the "Gavin Belson" technique of using underlings to pump up the mythology of their head honcho. Fun stuff, with some tongue-in-cheek plugging of "Burger King," as well as "Kid Rock.

I'll review the entire set of 8 commentaries at once; these commentaries are one part interesting and informative, and one part hilarious. Usually I can't stand commentaries from actors, because they usually just narrate what's on screen and comment on "this is so great, I love this", and have a cumbersome must-always-be-entertaining boisterousness to their comments.

No matter the particular lineup of a given commentary, I have to admit that all of them are worth watching both for the bethind-the-scenes content as well as the humor. I actually laughed out loud at least once in most of the commentaries. Recommended.

Not as incredibly dense as the other tracks. However, Mike Judge helpfully points out two key figures in the history of data compression. A picture of the inventor of compression, and the first JPEG used to demonstrate compression power. Hint- it's of a "Playboy" playmate from the '70s, a woman whose name Judge cannot remember. 6/10
P.S. Quick WIki search: Playmate is Lena Soderberg from November 1972.

The additon of Zach Woods and Kumail Nanjiani really spice up the group dynamic here. Kumail's own experience in obtaining citizenship mirrors his characters' background. Also, the creators vehemently defend their use of "Burger King" products as the antithesis of product placement. The "HBO" model allows them to use real-life companies, since prospective advertisers (i.e. brand competitors) don't directly advertise on the network. Amusing banter as in the other tracks, that fans of the series, or improv comedy can really benefit from. 8/10

Another fun group commentary. T.J. Miller, much like his character Erlich, gets to shine. Fearless in the face of a "vomit-cannon," Miller took his shot of oatmeal and soup like a real man. Finding just the right amount of dimwitedness and competency in the character of the young lawyer proved difficult. (Although actually beleiving it's pronounced "Ying and Yang" because, you know, oppoistes right? is hilarious). The introduction of a theory in comedy writing based on the "Price is Right" is offered here and in the other commentaries. Rather profound; that the joke works if you're "$100" UNDER but not "1 Dollar" OVER. Solid track, with information and giggles aplenty. 8.5/10
Commentary 5: "Signaling Risk" -- Series creator Mike Judge and assorted cast and crew Rating:8.0/10 (1 vote) [graph]Login to vote or review

How the holographic effect was achieved, more lamentations on the brilliant (recently departed) Cristopher Evan Welch, and how tech companies love to use adorable caricateurs to mask their failue. Kumail on the "Fail Whale" of Twitter-dom: "Isn't our incompetence adorable?" 8/10
